Luca Sanna

Italian visual artist based in Sardinia — contemporary painting, nature and inner landscapes.

I paint what endures while it transforms.

My practice moves between nature and the body, mark and memory, shifting between figuration and abstraction, between what remains and what changes. Painting, drawing and, when needed, digital tools are not separate disciplines but languages through which I explore metamorphosis, traces of time and the point where outer and inner landscapes meet.

Painting as a field of transformation

From the 1990s to the present, my work has developed through oil, acrylic, watercolour, drawing and digital image-making. The medium changes according to what the work requires: colour, matter, light, tension, silence or the persistence of a line.

Sardinia is a cultural and visual matrix within this practice rather than its boundary. Sea, rock, roots, vegetation and changing light become material for a wider reflection on memory, identity, transformation and the relationship between human presence and the natural world.

Notes on art, process and visual culture

Essays and studio notes extend the work beyond the image, tracing references, techniques and questions that shape the practice.
