Ginepri a Platamona — vista da Villaggio Selva (Sassari)

Junipers at Platamona — view from Villaggio Selva (Sassari)

2021 Acrylic on canvas
Acrylic painting of intertwined juniper branches at Platamona, Sardinia, forming a dense green network of vegetation and light.

An acrylic painting devoted to the junipers of Platamona, where the Sardinian landscape becomes a dense visual weave of natural structure, memory and vegetal force.

Description

In Ginepri a Platamona, the natural landscape becomes a dense and layered visual structure. Juniper branches interweave like drawn marks, moving between direct observation, memory of place and graphic construction.

Green is not merely descriptive: it surrounds and compacts the scene, while trunks and branches introduce rhythm, friction and depth.

Technique and composition

Acrylic allows for a direct painting process built through overlaps, contrasts and progressive interventions on the surface. Colour accumulates to construct vegetation, while the branches act as the structural framework of the image.

The eye is not led immediately towards a single vanishing point. Instead, it moves through the complexity of the branches. Openings of light between vegetal forms create pauses, balancing the density of the scene with moments of visual breathing.

Reading

The juniper can be read as an image of resistance and rootedness. Its twists suggest not only the physical form of the plant, but an existence that adapts, bends and continues to grow.

Landscape therefore becomes a discreet metaphor: not an idyllic scene, but a complex organism crossed by tension, memory and vitality.
